What is it?

Green tea extract is derived from the leaves of Camellia sinensis and is typically standardized for catechins — a family of polyphenols that includes EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), generally considered the most studied of the group.

  • Population: 47 adults, ages 50–69, with self-reported cognitive decline
  • Intervention: 336.4 mg of decaffeinated green tea catechins daily (mostly EGCG)
  • Duration: 12 weeks, plus acute single-dose testing
  • Outcomes: A single dose improved accuracy on a sustained-attention test; after 12 weeks, response time improved on a working-memory test; overall memory and attention scores did not significantly change
  • Limitations: Small sample, single ethnicity (Japanese adults), partial rather than across-the-board benefit, no change in blood biomarkers measured

What this means for Neuro Serge

This is a genuine, if partial, positive result from a controlled human trial — one of the more credible pieces of ingredient evidence in the formula. The dose studied (336.4 mg) is a specific, verified figure; we have not confirmed whether Neuro Serge's capsule contains that amount, less, or more.

What it does NOT prove

It does not prove that green tea extract at whatever dose is in Neuro Serge — combined with five other ingredients — produces the same working-memory benefit. It also does not establish a general memory or attention improvement; the 2020 trial found no significant change in those broader measures.
