Brain health: the basics

This page is general education, independent of Neuro Serge or any other product. It's here because understanding what actually shapes cognitive health helps you evaluate any supplement claim critically — including ours.

What "brain health" actually covers

Cognitive health is the ability to think clearly, learn, remember, plan, and make decisions. It's shaped by an interacting set of factors — most of them lifestyle and medical, not nutritional supplements. The National Institute on Aging frames cognitive aging as a natural, lifelong process: most raw processing speed peaks around age 30, while some abilities like vocabulary continue improving with age. The five pillars, briefly

  • Sleep: plays a well-established role in memory consolidation.
  • Physical activity: a 2023 meta-analysis of 21 RCTs found aerobic and resistance training produced measurable cognitive improvements in older adults. Source: Int. J. Environ. Res. Public Health, 2023
  • Nutrition & vascular health: diet patterns supporting healthy blood pressure and circulation are linked to healthy brain aging.
  • Mental engagement: ongoing learning is associated with cognitive resilience, though cognitive-training research specifically shows inconsistent, modest effects.
  • Medical factors: thyroid function, vitamin deficiencies, medication side effects, and sleep disorders can all affect cognition and are worth ruling out with a doctor.

Where supplements fit

Dietary supplements, including Neuro Serge, are not a substitute for any of the above. See our ingredient-by-ingredient evidence review for what's actually been studied about Neuro Serge's specific formula, and our methodology page for how we evaluate that evidence.
